Antonio Conte’s plans to improve Tottenham’s engine room have been given a huge boost after reports emerged that the Lilywhites are aiming to sign AC Milan star Franck Kessie this month – whilst Paris Saint-Germain have also reportedly offered a swap deal involving Leandro Paredes for French flop Tanguy Ndombele.
Kessie has been Milan’s best player this season, scoring five goals in 16 league appearances for the Rossoneri from the heart of midfield.
Having joined from Atalanta in 2017, Kessie has stamped his mark as one of the league’s finest players.
His talents have piqued interest from Manchester United, Tottenham, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain to name but a few.
Yet in a bid to beat competition in the summer upon the expiration of his contract, Tottenham are reportedly willing to do a deal for the Ivorian in the winter market in a bid to attract their man early, according to the Telegraph.
Kessie has made his desire to leave the San Siro well known in recent weeks, with the Premier League’s riches likely to be too much of a draw for him to turn down.
The 25-year-old has 40 goals in just 189 Serie A appearances, having made his debut in the league as a 20-year-old in Atalanta’s ranks.
He was originally targeted to replace the outgoing Tanguy Ndombele, who has fallen out of favour under Conte after his move to north London in 2019.
The Frenchman originally blossomed under Mauricio Pochettino in the first few months of his tenure.
There is no cash involved, although the north London outfit will be wary of the fact they paid £50million for Ndombele just two years ago.
It remains to be seen if a deal will be done for Paredes, with Conte not believed to be keen on signing the Argentine.
However, Spurs chiefs could be reluctant to accept a deal if they are to receive anything for Ndombele.
Tottenham face Chelsea on Sunday in a bid to further their Champions League hopes.
