Report: Arsenal man to be handed a brand new contract soon, Kroenke’s worried Manchester City want him

According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal are set to offer Mikel Arteta a brand new contract before the end of this season.

The Spaniard joined the Gunners in 2019 to replace Unai Emery. Arteta has been through a lot at Arsenal over the last two years, but it has to be said that he has done a really good job.

The report claims that Arsenal chiefs, including owner Stan Kroenke, are delighted with Arteta.

They especially appreciate the role he played in convincing players to take a wage-cut back when the pandemic was at its peak and they are also blown away by how he has defended the club after the North London derby was postponed last week.

Arsenal set to offer Mikel Arteta a new contract

The report claims that Arteta’s current contract expires in less than 18 months time. The Gunners are very keen to extend his deal before he enters the final year this summer.

Arsenal are set to table a new two-year contract with an improved salary to convince Arteta to extend his stay. Everyone at the club are happy with the Spaniard, but it looks like people outside are impressed too.

It is claimed that Arsenal are worried that Manchester City will try to lure Arteta away in 2023 if Pep Guardiola leaves the club. The defending champions know the Gunners boss very well and it really won’t be a surprise if they try to get him back.

Arsenal don’t even want to entertain that scenario and are set to do everything they can to convince Arteta to stay.

Arsenal are absolutely right to offer Arteta a new deal.

Yes, the Spaniard only has the FA Cup he won in 2020 to shout about, but Arsenal have definitely improved under him – both on and off the pitch.

The Gunners’ young side has impressed everyone this season. We can clearly see what Arteta is trying to build at the Emirates and if things go to plan, Arsenal could become a real force in a few years time.

Arteta is the right man to lead the Gunners forward, but Manchester City will surely think of him when Guardiola walks away. That is a big concern for Arsenal, which is why they are right to protect themselves by extending his deal.
