Paris Saint-Germain will have to reduce their wage bill if they want to land Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to today’s print edition of L’Equipe.

The French news outlet claims that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are looking to move on some of their current squad during the window in order to free up space for the arrival of Ndombele, whether that be a loan or permanent switch.

Spurs’ managing director of football, Fabio Paratici has been in discussions with his counterpart Leonardo at the Ligue 1 giants, however, there is a potential stumbling block with many of the PSG squad said to be reluctant to leave.

Ndombele is keen on a return to France and Pochettino, who brought the midfielder to north London while he was still their manager in July 2019 wants to work with the player once again, but there has to be some movement in his squad first of all.

The 25-year-old continues to train on his own, away from the rest of Antonio Conte’s first-team squad at Hotspur Way in the wake of his slow departure from the pitch while Spurs were losing 1-0 to Morecambe in the FA Cup earlier this month (Football.London).

Ndombele’s days at Tottenham look to be well and truly over, however, the stumbling block is there are very few clubs who can cover his £200,000-a-week pay packet.

It’s imperative that Tottenham can find a club that can shoulder most of the financial burden in order to free up funds for new transfer targets
