Report: Liverpool and Spurs face ‘serious’ competition from Pep for £25m target likened to Pogba

Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who has been a rumoured target for Liverpool and Tottenham for some time.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Pep Guardiola’s interest in the Dutch international is ‘serious’, with the likes of FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund also interested in the Ajax superstar.

The youngster is the latest name of the production line at the famous Netherlands club, with Gravenberch playing 78 matches for the Ajax first team at just 19-years-old, with the midfielder also capped ten times by the Dutch nationa

Indeed, the Manchester giants aren’t the only English club chasing Gravenberch. As claimed by Soccer News, the Reds weighed up a €30m (£25m) approach for the talent in the summer, with CalcioMercato reporting that Fabio Paratici wants Gravenberch at Tottenham.

Interest in the midfielder is high, and with all three Premier League clubs all having good cases as to why Gravenberch should join, it will be an interesting battle to watch unfold over the coming months.

With club chief executive Edwin van der Sar comparing the midfielder to Manchester United star Paul Pogba, there’s no wonder why there’s so much hype and interest around Gravenberch, with City now keen on the teenager.

Only Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham could claim to be as complete a midfielder at so young an age in this current era of football, and this is what makes Gravenberch such an exciting prospect for the likes of City, as well as Liverpool and Tottenham.

The teenager has shone for Ajax in both Europe and domestically. And with the youngster again having an impressive season, there’s a strong chance that Gravenberch will be on the move this summer, with the Premier League the most likely of destinations.
