Arsenal have splashed the cash this season with several signings in the summer and January.

Arsenal’s new signing Matt Turner has admitted that joining the club has been a major gamble for his career. The goalkeeper signed for the Gunners in January but will not join up with the squad until next summer.

Joining Arsenal is a huge gamble, according to their new signing Turner, who joined from New England Revolution in January.

The goalkeeper was allowed to stay at the MLS club until the end of the season before making the move to the Emirates in the summer.

It has put pressure on Bernd Leno, who was heavily linked with a transfer away in January.

Newcastle were looking to do a deal for the German, but that has been shelved until the summer when Turner will join up with his new squad.

But the 27-year-old has admitted that his dream move to Arsenal might be a huge gamble, especially regarding his international future.

Turner is currently No. 1 with the United States but playing second fiddle to Aaron Ramsdale might jeopardise that.

After his transfer to Arsenal was officially confirmed, he said: “I always want to be able to challenge myself at the highest level I possibly can.

“It’s been tough for goalkeepers to get moves. So I understand, I’m 27 and it’s something that I really want to do and really want to accomplish

At the same time, going into a World Cup year, you have to play smart.

“Going overseas and getting into a situation where maybe I’m not playing, or maybe I don’t adapt well to being in a foreign country before a World Cup might be challenging.

“There’s a lot of things I can take from [the U.S.] and apply with the Revolution for the rest of 2022, and then going into a World Cup, after a World Cup, we can revisit.

“But next 12 months, next four months, next whatever, if it make sense I would love to.”

Mikel Arteta has made several changes to his Arsenal squad this season alone as he looks to bring down the overall age.

It has seen the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sead Kolasinac and Calum Chambers leave this year alone
