We’re in to the last 4 months of Chelsea’s defensive contract crisis, and we expect there to be regular news from now until the end of the season – or until one of the players actually signs on the dotted line.
The Athletic today have some interesting quotes from Antonio Rudiger, one of the players involved. As always, he made it extra clear he’s keen to stay, without actually giving too much away.
One nugget from the body of the piece is the way that Chelsea have apparently “prioritised securing new terms with the German over Andreas Christensen.”
That has certainly swung a long way since the start of the season, when it looked likely Rudiger would go and Christensen stay.
But the fact that former Roma man Rudiger has yet to receive any promising offers from abroad perhaps makes Chelsea feel that a deal can still be done, and as long as he’s saying positive things, we will have hope.
