Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be the two teams most interested in signing Barcelona’s Ronaldo Araujo.

Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be in advanced talks with the 23-year-old defender, according to CCMA.

According to the source, the South American center-back is still in talks with current club Barcelona about signing a new deal at the Camp Nou, but they are unwilling to enhance their existing offer.

Furthermore, financial offers from Chelsea and Liverpool are substantially higher.

Araujo’s stepped up from Barcelona’s academy to the first team in the past couple of years, really establishing himself as a key first-team player this season.

The Uruguay international is a ball-playing center-half who can also play full-back.

When addressing him earlier this year, current Barcelona manager Xavi characterized him as a “outstanding defender.”

If the Blues lose numerous important defenders this summer, manager Thomas Tuchel must be permitted to go out and buy some quality replacements.

Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, as well as club captain Cesar Azpilicueta, are both out of contract at Stamford Bridge this summer. In addition, Barcelona manager Xavi is said to be in regular contact with Azpilicueta, who has been linked with a move to the club.

Araujo’s performances in a Barcelona shirt this season indicate that he is one of the most interesting young defenders in the league.

If he becomes available, he may be an excellent like-for-like alternative for Christensen.
