Clubs may have to spend between £80 million and £300,000 per week to sign the 27-year-old Manchester City player.

Raheem Sterling is yet to put pen to paper on an extension at Manchester City and could be on his way out this summer if the two parties can’t come to an agreement. The 27-year-old has little over 12 months remaining on his deal and may leave for free next year unless City ties him down to a new contract.

Harry Pratt of the Daily Star says the Sky Blues are preparing for his potential departure as no progress has been made with talks. The city will accept offers of £80m for the England international, but a suitor will have to better Sterling’s wage demands of £300k-per-week, so he won’t come up.

The 27-year-old joined City from Liverpool in 2015 and has gone on to make 327 appearances in all competitions, scoring 128 goals with 91 assists. Sterling has been in fine form this season, scoring 14 goals with five assists in 35 games, so Pep Guardiola doesn’t want to lose him.

Sterling dropped agent Aidy Ward in January 2021 while he was in talks over a new deal, so things were put on hold. The England international hinted at a move away from City that summer as he was unhappy missing so many important games over the season.

Guardiola even said months ago that Sterling could leave this campaign, so it’s not surprising that contract talks have been on ice for a while. Sterling’s next deal could be his last before he’s past his peak, so he may weigh up all his options.

But with three Premier League titles, five League Cups, and one FA Cup to his name, City might be the place to stay.
