The admission that Christian Pulisic makes to Chelsea

While on international duty, USA international Christian Pulisic discussed his Chelsea ambitions, with recent reports linking him to a move to Liverpool.

Christian Pulisic has spoken about his Chelsea future while away on international duty with the USA, admitting that he wants more playing time next season. The 23-year-old made just 22 Premier League appearances this season scoring six goals but admitted that he is looking for more next season.

The American has been with the Blues since 2019 but has now admitted that he is focused on making himself “a regular at club level” having started just 13 Premier League games this campaign. This has encouraged speculation that his future could lie elsewhere, despite compatriot Todd Boehly’s takeover at the West London club, with Liverpool being linked to the attacker amid ongoing speculation surrounding Sadio Mane’s future.

The winger was speaking after his country’s 3-0 friendly win over Morocco, a game in which he started before being removed from the field ahead of a friendly against Uruguay. In an interview with reporters, he discussed his future plans and ambitions.

He said: “Right now, obviously, I’m just focused on what I’m doing here. And I’m thrilled to be here. That’s all there is to it.

“Of course, I want to see more action. I want to be on the field as much as possible, to be as sharp as possible, and be as fit as possible.

“I think I still have a lot of games,” he says, “but it’s always something I’m working on and trying to be consistent at club level as well to put myself in the best position to be fit when I come here with the national team.”

The forward, who has 21 international goals in 49 games, has previously spoken about his future at the club, telling Metro that he has met the new owners and is excited about what the future holds. This could change if he remains a rotation option in Thomas Tuchel’s plans.

He had this to say about the meeting: “We were able to meet with them at the end of the season, and they were frequently seen around the club. They are really nice people, so I’m looking forward to the future.”
