What Liverpool has discovered about a €100 million bid for an attacking signing

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis informed Liverpool that a €100 million bid would secure Victor Osimhen.

Victor Osimhen was declared open to a move to the Premier League a month ago.

The Nigerian’s agents were “given the green light” to market him to English teams, with reports claiming that he only wants to play for teams that can offer Champions League football.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Napoli president De Laurentis has told Liverpool and Bayern Munich that they must pay £86 million (€100 million) to sign Osimhen.

Osimhen is a fearless player, and his heart and goal-scoring ability are unlikely to entice Liverpool.

The Reds are set to lose both Divock Origi and Sadio Mane this summer and both offer Jurgen Klopp a physical presence in the box and the ability to play a direct style of play.

The 23-year-old scored 18 goals and assisted on six others for Napoli this season, despite playing through pain at times last season after suffering a cheekbone fracture in January.

Osimhen can provide Liverpool with a route to goal that few others can. He has the ability to bully defenders and force them to make errors that they would not make against a more tricky, nuanced attacker like Diogo Jota.

Having said that, it appears unrealistic to expect Liverpool to spend €100 million on Osimhen given his lack of elite-level experience.
