Matt Turner has said his final goodbyes to the New England Revolution as he prepares for his Arsenal medical on Wednesday.

After signing Matt Turner from the New England Revolution earlier this year, it’s been clear for a while where the goalkeeper will end up. However, it is still not a done deal unless a medical is completed.

Turner is expected to report for Arsenal duty on Wednesday, where he will complete his medical and finalize the move.

Turner has already said his goodbyes in the United States, signing shirts for all of his fans (except the one wearing a Spurs shirt).

Of course, if he completes the deal on Wednesday, it won’t be long until Turner is back in his home country, given Arsenal play the majority of their pre-season fixtures on a U.S. tour.

Aaron Ramsdale is currently Arsenal’s number one goalkeeper, but he is expected to return from his post-international duty holiday later, giving Turner a chance to impress in training in the meantime.

Turner responded to the suggestion that he is initially joining the club as a backup when asked about the potential battle for starts in goal at Arsenal.

“I can see why they’d think that,” Turner said. “Aaron had an incredible season for Arsenal and performed admirably throughout the year.”

“For the time being, I’d agree. I’m coming in to challenge him and become the best goalkeeper I can be, while also helping him become the best goalkeeper he can be. That is my ultimate goal for everything.”
