Chelsea has “initiated serious talks” to bring in a player. Asked to at least touch the “wall of €100 million”

This week, Juventus is expected to make announcements on players like Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria, so these next few days could be significant for supporters of the Serie A team.

Nevertheless, despite the positive news regarding the arrivals, there is still the overhanging story around a potential departure of Matthijs de Ligt, with Chelsea now being the main pursuers.

The two updates come from the main Italian tabloids on Monday. Tuttosport asserts that the Blues “must push their foot on the accelerator and make an offer that meets the desire of Juventus” in order to “secure the performances of the tough Dutch defender.”

The Italian club has “indicated they aren’t interested in technical counterparts,” which means they will only agree “in the face of pure cash,” despite Chelsea’s rumored offer of roughly €40 million plus a player.

The amount? “Specifically, €100 million.”

That’s almost €20 million less than his current release clause, and Juventus officials have already begun searching elsewhere, including names like Kalidou Koulibaly and Gleison Bremer, “while waiting to receive the call from the London club.”

There is a little more hope for Chelsea supporters over at Corriere dello Sport, as it is stated that “the sale of the Dutch center-back no longer looks to be postponed.”

The reason for this is because although Juventus “have not yet decreased their claims,” the Blues “have started concrete conversations after months of courtship,” which means “the wall of €100m must at least be touched if not shattered.”

Down at Chelsea, the previously announced offer has been increased to “€70-75m + a dozen more in bonuses,” but it is “still not enough.”

Juventus wants to “close this as swiftly as possible, possibly waiting for a relaunch from Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool or Paris Saint-Germain” despite this opposition.
