Report: Nottingham Forest and a £25 million goal of Pep Guardiola reach agreement

Renan Lodi, a target for Manchester City, was scheduled to transfer from Atlético Madrid to Nottingham Forest on Friday, according to the Daily Mail.

However, for unknown reasons that are not mentioned in the article, negotiations between the two parties broke down.

Jacque Talbot claims that there has recently been a development.

WHO IS THE HERO?

According to reports, Diego Simeone is happy to let the South American depart the Wanda Metropolitano and has reached an agreement to loan the Brazilian international to the Premier League’s newest club for €5 million (£4 million).

Nottingham Forest have also negotiated an option to buy the left-back on a permanent basis for €30m (£25m).

Lodi has surprisingly become a benchwarmer so far this season, despite playing a key role last term as he made 42 appearances in all competitions.

It comes after Manchester City also held talks to sign Lodi as Pep Guardiola aims to replace Oleksandr Zinchenko.

In our view, a £4m fee is quite a large amount to pay for one season of Lodi – perhaps talks stalled as Steve Cooper attempted to lower that price.

Now Nottingham Forest have managed to wrap up a deal for Lodi – who Atlético Madrid paid €25m (£21m) for – it is likely see Sergio Reguilon join the Spanish giants from Tottenham.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST COULD CAUSE DISHARMONY WITH RENAN LODI DEAL

In our view, we aren’t exactly sure why Nottingham Forest are signing another left-back.

Cooper has already brought Harry Toffolo and Omar Richards to the City Ground this summer, so if Lodi is now wanted, why wasn’t he signed before two left-backs were added to the squad?

Of course, the latter sadly suffered an injury, but his chances of first-team action now seem very bleak, when he does return.

Furthermore, the Atlético Madrid No.12 earns £64,000-a-week, a salary which Nottingham Forest should only be spending on a player they desperately need.

Of course, it is difficult to look away when a player of Lodi’s quality becomes available, but we believe this signing may cause disharmony and an unbalance amongst the Nottingham Forest squad.

Nevertheless, an agreement seems to have been found between Atlético Madrid and Nottingham Forest, so keep an eye out for an official announcement.
