Man United are in discussion with a 299-goal “natural finisher” to join Antony

According to rumors, Manchester United has inquired about signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Barcelona.

The Gabon international joined Barcelona from Arsenal on a free transfer in February following several disciplinary issues at the Emirates Stadium. Still, it looks like a return to the Premier League could be on the cards.

Chelsea has been heavily linked with the 33-year-old for most of the summer, with the Blues reportedly agreeing on personal terms ahead of a potential move, but Erik ten Hag’s side now appears to have joined the race for his signature.

THE LATEST: UNITED MAKE AUBAMEYANG ENQUIRY

According to 90min, United has ‘made contact with Barcelona regarding the availability of Aubameyang, despite the striker being in ‘advanced talks’ to join Thomas Tuchel’s side.

It’s stated that the Red Devils ‘remain in the market for a new attacking reinforcement ‘regardless’ of Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has also revealed that United are now ‘close’ to reaching an agreement for Ajax winger Antony.

Aubameyang is a player who could work wonders for any team he represents, given that he has netted a staggering 299 goals across his senior career, but United shouldn’t consider pursuing a move for him this summer.

The former Gunners marksman, who was dubbed a ‘natural finisher’ by sports journalist Josh Bunting, has a release clause set at £83.4m; and with the Red Devils already set to break the bank on Antony, it wouldn’t be worth cashing out on a sum of this size.

Chelsea can also offer Champions League football, which you would imagine may give them the advantage over United when it comes down to Aubameyang choosing where his next destination will be.
