Liverpool may have a bargaining chip in the Bellingham deal because Dortmund wants the Reds’ star.

Liverpool may have gained an advantage in the race to sign Jude Bellingham after Borussia Dortmund expressed interest in Naby Keita.

According to Bild (via TEAMtalk), the Bundesliga club is interested in signing the Guinean on a free transfer with his contract set to expire in 2023.

It gives Julian Ward and company a small window of opportunity to capitalize on the alleged interest in the No.8 before his departure from Anfield is all but guaranteed.

Keita, Liverpool
Naby Keita’s struggles with injuries have kept him sidelined throughout the start of the 2022/23 campaign

That is, of course, if the 27-year-current old’s terms are not extended beyond the next summer window.

According to reports, the Merseysiders are still very interested in keeping hold of the former RB Leipzig midfielder.

From our perspective, we’d prefer to keep Keita for the foreseeable future, but if an agreement cannot be reached, we’d prefer to see his departure help land a top target for 2023.
