Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Leicester City midfielder Nampalys Mendy is a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.

On Monday evening, the Foxes won their first Premier League game of the season at the eighth attempt, defeating Nottingham Forest 4-0.

The win took them off the bottom of the table and relieved the pressure on Rodgers, with speculation regarding his future increasing during the international break.

Attention now turns to Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth, and it looks as if Rodgers won’t have a fully fit squad for the journey south.

THE LATEST: INJURY UPDATE

Talking in his pre-match press conference, relayed by Leicester Mercury, Rodgers stated that Wilfred Ndidi is set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, while Mendy also looks set to be out with a knee issue.

“Wilf Ndidi will probably be out for a little bit. He had a hamstring strain. He recovered well, but it was sore again. He will miss a few weeks. Papy Mendy has an issue with his knee so he will struggle. Everyone else is fine.”

Ndidi started Monday’s win against Forest but was forced off at the interval, so being unable to call upon Mendy this weekend is also a blow.

The Senegal international played two games for his country during the international break but wasn’t named in the Foxes squad on Monday.

He’s had to remain patient for an opportunity in the Premier League, and unfortunately, it looks as if he won’t be able to provide cover for Ndidi tomorrow with an injury of his own.
