Leeds United’s injury list and key return dates ahead of a crucial match against Leicester City

The latest Leeds United injury news ahead of Thursday’s trip to Leicester.

Leeds will be looking to end a run of six league games without a win when they travel to the King Power Stadium to face rock-bottom Leicester City on Thursday.

The Whites last tasted victory in the Premier League in their memorable 3-0 triumph over Chelsea at Elland Road in August. They’ve since lost four of their last six league outings (D2) – a run that has seen them plummet to within one point of the relegation zone.

Jesse Marsch will fancy his chances of returning to winning ways against a Leicester side that has collected just five points from their opening 10 league games.

Marsch has confirmed one fresh injury setback, and with that in mind, here is the full list of injuries that Marsch will have to contend with, and when they could possibly return to action.

Pascal Struijk – knock

Marsch revealed that Struijk has picked up a minor injury that has ruled him out of the game against the Foxes. The American didn’t reveal the cause or area of the injury but is hopeful that the Dutchman will be able to return against Fulham on Sunday.

Marsch said (19 Oct): “Pascal Struijk picked up a little bit of an injury and won’t be available for tomorrow but we’re hopeful that by Sunday he will be available again.”

Adam Forshaw – ankle

Forshaw was ruled out of the goalless draw against Aston Villa earlier this month due to a “twisted ankle”. He has gone on to miss the defeats against Crystal Palace and Arsenal respectively, but Marsch confirmed last week that he has had successful surgery on a hernia problem. The midfielder, who has been plagued by injuries since his arrival from Middlesbrough in 2018, is still expected to be missing for a number of weeks.

Marsch said (19 Oct): “Adam is coming back from injury but feeling really good.

Leo Hjelde – illness

Hjelde went to the hospital with appendicitis earlier this month, which required surgery. The 19-year-old was an unused substitute in five of the opening six league games but has not been named on the bench since the 5-2 defeat at Brentford in September.
He was last in action in the U21s’ emphatic 6-2 victory over Southampton on September 16 and also completed the full 90 minutes in the 3-1 victory over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

Marsch said (14 Oct): “Leo has recovered well from his appendectomy; he was on the pitch today but won’t be available for another week or so.

Archie Gray – ankle

Gray suffered a fractured toe after stubbing it at home and has been missing since the end of last month. He returned to training last week but Marsch has confirmed that he won’t be available for the trip to the King Power Stadium on Thursday evening.

Marsch said (14 Oct): “Archie was on the pitch as well today and feeling better with his broken toe but not available.”

Stuart Dallas – thigh

Dallas suffered a fractured femur in a 50/50 challenge with Manchester City winger Jack Grealish in a 4-0 defeat back in April. He was initially ruled out for six months, although that timeframe looks set to be extended into next year.
