The latest Leicester City injury presents Brendan Rodgers with a ‘nice problem’ for Manchester City.

The latest on Jonny Evans and Wilfred Ndidi as Leicester City prepare to host Manchester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Leicester City has two key players returning to fitness this week, and manager Brendan Rodgers is relieved that he does not have to make a quick decision on whether they should return to the starting lineup.

After a handful of games on the sidelines, center-back Jonny Evans and defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi could both be available to face Manchester City this weekend. Evans will need to be assessed over his calf issue to ensure he is ready to play, but Ndidi is definitely ready, having overcome a hamstring injury and trained with his teammates all week.

However, in their absences, City has gone three games unbeaten and kept clean sheets in all three. It’s their longest run without conceding a goal in the Premier League for three years.

Daniel Amartey and Boubakary Soumare have been the players in the side while Evans and Ndidi have been out, and both have stepped up in the past couple of matches to help City get vital wins that have lifted them out of the relegation zone. Rodgers says it’s important to have as many players in form as possible.

Asked about the difficulty of the task he faces to pick his team given Evans and Ndidi’s availability, Rodgers said: “It’s a nice problem to have. We’ve got players in the form of the team and that’s what you want, and then there are players coming back.

“It gives you that greater choice when you’re preparing for the game. The guys who have come in have been great. It’s very important to have a bench as well that can affect the game.

“Having the players available is what’s important. All they can do is train well and then we will pick a team and a plan we think can get the result.”

While City will not favorite this weekend, they will have the confidence to feel they can get a result, following their recent run. Rodgers believes, though, that the spirit in the camp was not dented by the poor start to the campaign.

“Winning is important,” he said. “It breeds confidence. For me, it’s about the process. We’d played well in a number of games but had errors within that, but now our concentration is better, and we’ve added that to some of the play we’ve had.

“Winning always breeds confidence, but the spirit has always been good. We want to continue with that.”
