See what Guardiola says about Haaland when Man City face Sevilla

MANCHESTER, 30 OCT — Manchester City forward Erling Haaland will miss Wednesday’s Champions League match against Sevilla as a precaution after being injured in Saturday’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Leicester City, according to manager Pep Guardiola.

Haaland, who has 22 goals in all competitions this season, was replaced in the second half of City’s goalless Champions League draw at his former club Borussia Dortmund last Tuesday due to an injury.

Guardiola stated that he will not risk his top scorer against Sevilla in Europe’s top club competition because they have already qualified for the knockout stage.

When asked about Haaland’s possible return date, Guardiola said, “I don’t know.” “He’s got ligament damage.” He’s feeling better now that we have another week.

“He won’t play against Sevilla because we’ve already qualified, but hopefully he can help us against Fulham (on Saturday).” If not, he could face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup (on November 9).”

City lacked a cutting edge in the first half against Leicester, but a stunning free kick from Kevin De Bruyne sealed the victory and returned the champions to the top of the Premier League table.
