‘I’m confident…’ – Conte drops encouraging injury update over ‘special’ £190k-p/w Spurs wizard

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has provided an update on Son Heung-injury. min’s

Son was forced off the field during Tottenham’s 2-1 Champions League win over Marseille last week with what has now been confirmed to be a fracture to his left eye socket. It was later revealed that the winger needed surgery to stabilize the fracture.

Despite the fact that no timetable for the 30-year-return olds has been provided, Conte appears to have provided an update on the situation.

THE LATEST: CONTE SHARES UPDATE ON SON

Speaking after his team’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, Conte shed some light on Son’s situation, and it makes for good reason for the player, his club, and his country.

The Tottenham manager said: “With Sonny, I sent him a message after the surgery. Sonny was really, really disappointed with this situation but I hope for him to recover very well and to play in the World Cup because I was a player and I know the importance of the World Cup.

“He missed us tonight. I’m confident that he can come back quickly and play in the World Cup. He’s not in the hospital now he’s home.”

To highlight how much of a miss the 30-year-old is for the north London club when he’s ruled out, he currently tops their list for the number of shot-creating actions (52) delivered in the league this season.

Hailed as a “special” player by former Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, the £190k-per-week attacker may well have made the difference for his side in their recent defeat against Liverpool had he been available.

While it has been a blow for Spurs to have Son pick up this unfortunate injury, this update from Conte is definitely a positive one, especially if the winger is able to play for South Korea in the World Cup.

Moving forward, everyone at Tottenham will be hoping that the attacking star can recover from this injury as soon as possible and manage to avoid any other issues while he’s in Qatar representing his country on the world stage.
