Manchester United is interested in signing the 23-year-old English midfielder.

Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice as part of their plans to rebuild their squad next summer.

Manchester United is considering bringing Declan Rice in next summer, according to Fichajes. The Red Devils will go to great lengths to secure the signing of the 23-year-old English midfielder at Old Trafford.

Declan Rice has been instrumental in West Ham United’s recent resurgence and has been a vital cog in their plans. The 23-year-old has also been selected by Gareth Southgate to represent England at the 2022 World Cup and will be one of the first names to feature on the team sheet.

Rice has a contract till 2024 and has so far refused to commit to his long-term future at the club. If he remains strong in his stance, the Hammers will have to figure out a solution next summer as they won’t be taking the risk of losing him free.

Rice’s stock could further rise after the 2022 FIFA World Cup. But the London giants won’t be getting that desired value and a stop-gap transfer in January may be very complicatedly from both ends.

Manchester United will not have a sufficient transfer budget to afford Rice, while West Ham’s season will derail if they lose their most prized asset. The Red Devils will lose a whole lot of players next summer, so they will have the room to welcome more faces.

Fred might depart from Old Trafford, while Scott McTominay is likely to be pushed toward the periphery. Manchester United will thus be happy to spend their heart out for a player who could be a long-term investment.

But that won’t be an easy task given Chelsea and Liverpool’s growing interest in the English midfielder. Both the Premier League giants are in need of some massive reconstruction of their midfield units. And Rice’s rise to prominence has allowed them to step up their interest.

Failure to grab a Champions League spot will hurt Manchester United massively as Rice’s preference would be to compete in the continental competition. It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils can convince the player to be a part of their future project. But first, they will be eager to clinch a top-four finish.
