‘Life is perfect.’ After rumors that Liverpool wanted him, the midfielder has now stated that he is happy where he is.

Frenkie de Jong, a Barcelona midfielder and Liverpool target has stated that he is extremely happy at the Catalan club and intends to stay for many years.

In an interview with the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, the 25-year-old expressed his satisfaction with his current situation at Camp Nou, despite the fact that he was the subject of intense transfer speculation throughout the summer.

“I’m very content in Barcelona,” he said.

“When I play, it’s fantastic, and life is perfect here.”

“I intend to stay in Barcelona for as long as possible.”

“I’m hoping for another eight or ten years.”

This comes after Netherlands international was the subject of vast interest during the summer window.

Manchester United was incredibly keen to sign De Jong as Erik ten Hag’s number one target, and Chelsea even made a move for him towards the end of the window, but the midfielder was adamant he didn’t want to leave the La Liga heavyweights.

Liverpool was also touted with a £60m offer for the Dutchman, but a move failed to come to fruition.

Ahead of January, Jurgen Klopp’s side joins Man United and Chelsea as the favorites to lead the race to sign the player over the winter window.

However, with De Jong’s recent comments, this doesn’t appear to be a huge possibility.
