Spurs World Cup focus: Lloris vs Hojbjerg, Romero decision, Kiwior mission

Three Tottenham Hotspur players will compete in the World Cup 2022 on Saturday.

On Saturday, many teams will be in action at the World Cup, and Tottenham fans have a lot to look forward to as a result.

Four games are scheduled as nations in Group C and Group D compete in their second matches of the tournament. Tunisia will play Australia first, followed by Poland’s match against Saudi Arabia at the Education City stadium. France then plays Denmark in one of the day’s games, followed by Argentina vs. Mexico later in the evening.

Several of Tottenham’s stars and transfer targets have already been in action in the tournament, with the likes of Harry Kane already making a mark on the competition. That trend is still set to continue, as more global stars look to impress in Qatar.

With that in mind, football. London takes a look at the names you need to keep an eye on at the World Cup today.

Hugo Lloris (France)

Lloris didn’t have too much to do against Australia. The Socceroos surprisingly took the lead in the first half but normality was later restored as France went on to secure a comfortable 4-1 victory.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Denmark)

Hojbjerg’s Denmark was held to a 0-0 draw against Morocco earlier this week. The midfielder’s World Cup isn’t about to get any easier, either, as the Danes face World Cup holders France on Saturday.

Cristian Romero (Argentina)

Romero endured a horrible start to the World Cup as Argentina lost 2-1 to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. To make matters worse, he was at fault for one of the goals and was later substituted for Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez, who is rumored to be in line to start ahead of Romero against Mexico.

Jakub Kiwior (Poland)

Tottenham is reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Poland’s Kiwior. Italian outlet Roma Giallo Rossa, via The Boot Room, has reported that Jose Mourinho wants to bolster his backline in the Italian capital by signing the 22-year-old defender but a potential deal is complicated by the fact Spurs are also monitoring his situation.

The center-back performed admirably earlier this week as his side drew 0-0 with Mexico.
