Due to contract negotiations stalling, Arsenal and Tottenham may now have a better chance of signing Wolfsburg forward Omar Marmoush.
Marmoush has spent his entire senior career with Wolfsburg. Despite his age of 23, he has only played 29 first-team games for the Bundesliga club.
Indeed, the forward has been loaned out for the past two seasons in order to help his development. In the first, he moved to St Pauli in Bundesliga
Marmoush was directly involved in 10 goals in 21 games for the second-tier side. After a string of good performances there, he spent the next season in the Bundesliga, with Stuttgart.
In 21 games, Marmoush scored three goals and provided five assists. Clearly, he did enough to impress Wolfsburg, as he has played a consistent role this season.
Indeed, 19 of the Egyptian’s 29 first-team appearances for the club have come this season. He is yet to miss a game in all competitions this term, having started in more than half of his outings.
What’s more, he is getting into the swings of things in front of the goal – Marmoush has scored three times. He has also scored two goals in 15 appearances for Egypt.
The influence the forward has on both those sides has led to an interest in him.
Arsenal and Tottenham gave a simpler Marmoush chance
Both Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with Marmoush. The chances of either side signing him might become easier than previously expected, too.
Wolfsburger Allgemeine reports that contract negotiations between Wolfsburg and the forward have stalled.
As such, they might have to sell him in January, as his deal runs out at the end of the season. They could lose out on him for nothing if they are not to sell soon.
Given the two Premier League sides have registered an interest, either one could be keen on signing him in the winter.
Marmoush has been valued at £ 17 million, though the potentially perilous position Wolfsburg are in means they might have to sell him for even cheaper.
Marmoush is yet to really prove himself, having not played all too many top-flight games. However, he is clearly a player that has promise.
As such, the opportunity of signing him at a cut-price fee could be beneficial to any interested side.
If things do not work out wherever he ends up, at least they did not shell a massive sum on him. As such, in the strong positions that Arsenal and Tottenham are in, either could be encouraged to take the plunge.
Indeed, the upside is that he could prove to become a star over the next few seasons.
