Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken about taking his squad to Abu Dhabi for the World Cup, according to LeicestershireLive.

Brendan Rodgers, manager of Leicester City, traveled to Abu Dhabi this week to “reintroduce all of our principles” to the squad.

This week, City is in the Middle East for a warm-weather training camp before returning to Seagrave for two behind-closed-doors friendlies.

While on the trip, Rodgers spoke to LCFC TV about what he wanted his players and staff to take away from it.

“In terms of coming here, the objective was really to reintroduce all of our principles again,” Rodgers said.

“The players have had a little bit of time with their families, so it was a great opportunity just to get together and reinforce a lot of our football philosophy. “It’s also important for the players to reconnect again socially so you’re spending a lot of time with each other. That’s been great.

“And also we have quite a few younger players here. It’s good for them to be in this environment, and see how the senior players operate. Up until now, we’re getting to the end but it’s been first class for us.”

Speaking about the concept of warm weather training and how the players have adapted, Rodgers added: “Because it’s so hot in the afternoons, we tend to extend the morning sessions, starting a bit earlier.

“By the end of that, the players have really suffered. They’ve got through it really well. We’ve still got to prepare and do the work, then the players can get that recovery in afterward.

“They’ve adapted really well. For some of them, especially the younger players, it’s their first warm-weather training camp. They’ve all coped really well and their attitude has been first-class.”
