According to statistics, Man City’s player is one of the best playmakers in the World Cup. [Opinion]

Phil Foden came into the World Cup with a lot of pressure to deliver for England, having shown himself to be one of the Premier League’s best playmakers during his time at Manchester City.

But the 22-year-old has taken it in stride and is producing good performances while posting excellent numbers. Foden has forced his way into England’s starting eleven and is likely to get the nod ahead of their World Cup quarter-final clash after making two assists in their last-16 win over Senegal.

Foden has made three appearances in the 2022 tournament, starting twice while amassing 174 minutes of playing time. He’s scored one goal and made two assists, so there aren’t many boasting a better output in Qatar.

In fact, only Kylian Mbappe (5 goals, 2 assists), Alvaro Morata (3 goals, 1 assist), Lionel Messi (3 goals, 1 assist), Bruno Fernandes (2 goals, 2 assists), and Harry Kane (1 goal, 3 assists), have contributed more than Foden, so he’s lived up to his billing.

He’s creating 1.3 chances per game on average and boasts 0.7 successful dribbles per game (70%). Domestically, Foden boasts eight goals with three assists from 20 games in all competitions, so he’s having a great season for club and country.
