Tottenham Hotspur could well bid for World Cup star Weston McKennie in January, with Calciomercato reporting that his club is worried about him now.

Spurs have been linked with a move for McKennie over the past two windows due to the links with Fabio Paratici.

The Italian was the man responsible for bringing the £26 million-rated midfielder to Juventus from Schalke.

Paratici has already added two central-midfield players to Antonio Conte’s squad over the past year, with Rodrigo Bentancur joining in January and Yves Bissouma making the switch to north London over the summer.

But it seems that Spurs could be willing to bolster Conte’s midfield options once again, with Calciomercato reporting that Paratici could revive his interest in the American.

Calciomercato claims McKennie could be facing a spell on the bench due to Massimiliano Allegri’s options in midfield.

Juventus are concerned that the USMNT man will find it hard to break into the side with the likes of Paul Pogba, Adrien Rabiot, and Manuel Locatelli in the squad.

The outlet notes that the 24-year-old nearly joined Manchester United last year and while their former interest could be over, Spurs are still keen.

Paratici has apparently ‘tested the ground’ over McKennie in recent months and could return with a bid in January.

McKennie certainly impressed as part of USMNT’s midfield at the World Cup, despite a below-par display against Holland on Saturday.

The Juve man was particularly impressive against England ten days ago, where he put in an eye-catching display against the likes of Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.

He would undoubtedly be a good addition to Spurs’ midfield, but he seems to be a similar profile to the midfielders Conte already has at his disposal.

Unless Tottenham is considering offloading one of their midfielders, they may be better suited going for a more creative player in the middle of the park.
