Angers president Said Chabane has revealed the club’s wish is to ‘complete an agreement’ to sell Azzedine Ounahi in January, amid Leicester City’s interest.

The city is among the sides looking to sign the midfielder, along with Wolves, West Ham, Inter Milan, Barcelona, and Sevilla. The 22-year-old impressed while representing Morocco as they reached the last four in the World Cup.

An earlier report by LeicestershireLive said City was prepared to bid ‘as high as €45m (£39m).’ Since then, the Angers president Chabane has confirmed the club has received ‘many bids’ ahead of the January transfer window.

Speaking to RTL France, he said: “We’ve many bids, we’ve been approached by big clubs in Italy, Spain, England, France. Our wish is to complete an agreement now but keeps the player until the end of the season.”

Chabane had previously highlighted the difficulty it would be to keep hold of their player. He said: “We are ready for everything. We have had a meeting with the coach and the sporting coordinator to consider all the possible scenarios.

“You know that we can never keep a player that wants to leave.”

Should City come to an agreement with the French side, Ounahi will only be likely to arrive in the summer.
