The target of Manchester City wants to join Liverpool, according to his father.

Jude Bellingham is being pursued by Liverpool, and it’s believed that the Borussia Dortmund star’s father would prefer a transfer to Anfield in 2023.

Despite the intense competition, Bellingham’s father Mark prefers to see his son sign with Liverpool, according to The Mirror.

The race for Bellingham is anticipated to include Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, and now Manchester United.

Yet Bellingham senior fancies Anfield above all, which will be music to the ears of Liverpool fans everywhere.

Bellingham’s father allegedly played a key role in the midfield decision to join Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City back in 2020.

Many other clubs wanted Bellingham back then – including Manchester United – but the teenager chose Dortmund with his father’s encouragement.

That will give Liverpool real hope that they will now manage to win the race for Bellingham and reunite him with a couple of close friends.

Liverpool isn’t exactly scrapping around for cash, but most would expect City or Real to blow them out of the water financially.

Dortmund is expected to demand around £ 100 million and has allegedly already started looking for potential replacements in midfield.

The Reds may need to use emotional pulls to land Bellingham, including his father’s verdict among others.

There are Jurgen Klopp’s ties to Borussia Dortmund, where he is still revered and has a strong relationship with key decision-makers.

The Mirror’s report adds that Bellingham has become close friends with Liverpool duo Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold during international duty with England.

Playing with them week in and week out on the international stage may appeal to Bellingham – at least that’s what Liverpool hopes.

Bellingham seems especially close with Henderson and the pair will surely have at least spoken about a move to Liverpool during the World Cup in Qatar.

Liverpool is unlikely to offer the most money here but they have a few connections that could just help them win this transfer race.
