Journalist: Newcastle is prepared to spend like Isak to sign a “sensational” player.

Football journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Newcastle United is still interested in James Maddison and is willing to spend a lot of money to sign him.

The Magpies have been sensational in the Premier League this season. They are currently third in the table, and a lot of their success is down to their recruitment since the turn of this year.

To go to the next level now, they need to strengthen again, and it looks like Maddison is the man Eddie Howe wants.

Newcastle is ready to spend Isak-like money to sign James Maddison – a journalist

Newcastle’s new owners are extremely wealthy, everyone is aware of that by now. They can afford to sign most players in the world if they want to, but they haven’t gone all out just yet.

However, the Magpies did smash their transfer record in the summer. They signed Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for £63 million (Sky Sports), and he has the potential to become a top player for them.

The January transfer window is just a few days away now and it will be interesting to see if Newcastle will be able to pull off a big signing again. Jones claims they are willing to spend big on Maddison if he becomes available.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Generally, they’ve been pretty careful with their spending. But they did splash out on Isak and they spent over £ 60 million on him (Isak).

“I’m told that they would be willing to pay that for Maddison.”

Maddison will enter the final 18 months of the contract in January.

Newcastle United fans can dream big again thanks to their new owners, and Maddison is exactly the kind of player they should be looking at.

The Englishman, branded as a ‘sensational’ player, has been absolutely brilliant for Leicester since the start of the season. He has scored seven goals and provided four assists in 13 Premier League appearances so far, and it’s only a matter of time before he leaves the Foxes.

With Maddison entering the final 18 months of his contract in January, plenty of clubs will consider him – some may even make a move to sign him. Whether that will be Newcastle remains to be seen.

It will be interesting to see where Maddison will end up in 2023. Newcastle fans will sure hope he’ll join them.
