Five Leicester players will undoubtedly be unavailable for Monday’s game against Newcastle United, it has been revealed.

Will Alves, Ricardo Pereira, James Justin, Jonny Evans, and Ryan Bertrand will all miss the Premier League match?

However, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is expected to be available, according to Brendan Rodgers.

James Maddison has received a lot of attention, particularly as a result of persistent reports of Newcastle United’s continued interest in the midfielder.

Six Leicester players are unavailable as a result of what Brendan Rodgers said (see below), and it doesn’t sound like he will make Monday’s matchday squad either.

Maddison last appeared on November 12, 2022, when he started at West Ham and scored after just eight minutes before suffering an injury and being replaced after 25 minutes of that 2-0 away victory.

James Maddison was initially sidelined but later returned to fitness and sat on the bench for England’s final three games in Qatar.

But it’s obvious that this knee injury is still causing issues.

Official Leicester City injury update for the December 23 match against Newcastle United:

During the FIFA World Cup break, Dewsbury-Hall suffered a minor calf injury playing a friendly match with Sheffield United behind closed doors, which prevented him from playing in the 3-0 Carabao Cup victory at MK Dons. But Jonny Evans is also out, and James Maddison might not play against Newcastle.

At the LCFC Training Ground on Friday, Rodgers assured the media that Kiernan was fine. He only slightly felt his calf during the Sheffield United game we played in secret, but he has since recovered and trained both yesterday and today, so he is fine.

Prior to Eddie Howe’s Magpies’ visit, Maddison’s knee will be evaluated, but Evans’ calf is expected to keep him out of that match. Earlier this month, the Club captain was replaced in the first half of a mid-season friendly against Troyes of France.

The Foxes manager continued, “We’re going to give it every opportunity to see where [Maddisonat. ]’s He’s had some persistent knee problems for a little while, so we’ll just monitor that over the next few days.

He’s been reliable for the past 18 months. I hope his talent is beyond question. I’m confident that once we get him in shape, he’ll reach that level. Jonny Evans isn’t all that great. He was hurt when he faced Troyes. There is a problem with his will, regrettably, be absent for a while because of the calf.

James Justin and Ricardo Pereira (Achilles) are, on the other hand, still recuperating (Achilles). Both are coordinating their eventual returns to action with the Club’s medical teams. The latter sustained his injury sometime after Ricardo. A Ryan Bertrand update was also provided (knee).

“[Ricardo’s] doing great,” said Rodgers. We anticipate that he will be able to rejoin the group sometime in January, ideally toward the middle or end. JJ is also putting in his strength training in the background.

Ryan is currently on the field. He still has a ways to go before he can play, but he’s moved from the inside to the outside, which is encouraging.

ACL damage sustained in an FA Youth Cup victory over Wolves U18s earlier this week forced Academy star Will Alves to miss the remainder of 2022–23, and Rodgers sent his best wishes to the young player. The talented midfielder had previously made an impact on the bench for City’s senior team against MK Dons.

The manager said, “We have one that is a really sad one for us. Will Alves, one of our young talents, passed away. It’s so unfortunate for a 17-year-old player who is just breaking into the league and making a name for himself. Due to the fact that he is a young player and has already experienced it, that was the only real disappointment for us.

“We will get him back, and we wish him a speedy recovery. He will undoubtedly miss the remainder of the season, so his recovery will begin immediately over the coming weeks, followed by surgery.

The players from Leicester will continue to work over the next few days, reporting to the office on Christmas Day to get ready for Boxing Day’s competition.

Rodgers affirmed, “We’ll be in for Christmas Day practice. The players worked incredibly hard and produced some excellent work during our period of rest. We’ve resumed our routine planning. We’ll be here to finalize our plans, and we can’t wait for the game on Boxing Day after that.
