Manchester United discloses a new hire

Behind the scenes at Old Trafford, a new appointment to the board of directors has been made.

Behind the scenes, Manchester United added another new director to their PLC board of directors, Patrick Stewart, a well-known lawyer.

Stewart has been a longtime United employee for the past 16 years. He has held the positions of general counsel and chief legal officer during that time.

Stewart, a 1997 solicitor who holds degrees from the Universities of Glasgow and Mainz (in Germany), worked for two prestigious UK commercial law firms before beginning his career at Old Trafford. He also spent time working for the Swiss sports marketing firm TEAM Marketing AG.

United has announced a summer tour of the US.

The commercial rights for the Champions League, widely regarded as the best football competition in the world, are sold by TEAM Marketing AG. In 2018, Stewart was chosen to serve as an arbitrator at the Swiss Court of Arbitration for Sport.

He is responsible for overseeing the legal and regulatory affairs of Old Trafford. Additionally, he is in charge of developing, establishing, and upholding relationships with key figures in the football industry.

2006 saw Stewart join the group. United announced his new appointment on Thursday night. It follows the Glazers’ declaration last month that they were looking into potential new investment avenues for the team, some of which might involve a complete sale.

This year has seen a number of adjustments made at Old Trafford, including the hiring of Erik ten Hag as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent replacement and Ralf Rangnick as the manager. Six players were added during his first transfer window, and the squad’s rebuild will continue the following month.

Meanwhile, Richard Arnold was given the responsibility of succeeding Ed Woodward as the club’s CEO. Arnold joined United around the same time Stewart did, serving in a similar capacity as group managing director and overseeing their commercial team.
