A BBC analyst calls a Spurs player’s involvement in the Ivan Toney goal “very disturbing.”

After Tottenham Hotspur’s comeback on Boxing Day, Eric Dier is probably sighing with relief right now.

Yesterday afternoon, in a thrilling 2-2 draw away to Brentford, the Lilywhites rallied from two goals behind to gain a hard-earned point.

Spurs were ultimately saved by goals from Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Antonio Conte’s team fell behind 2-0 early in the second half thanks to an Ivan Toney goal. This was the result of Dier’s poor clearing, which allowed the corner to come in, and utter mayhem in the Lilywhites’ defense.

And here is what James McFadden thought, calling it “shocking.”

“The clearance is shocking from Eric Dier, he can’t control it, but these things happen,” he stated on BBC Radio 5 Live. The organization of Tottenham’s defense is very astonishing. Nobody comes to get Ivan Toney. He is a striker and has the instinct to go and tuck the ball away, but Tottenham’s organization is awful.

Tottenham urgently needs Cristian Romero back.

The Argentina international has only just arrived back in North London after winning the World Cup nine days ago.

In theory, the South American’s visit to Aston Villa on January 1st could serve as a potential return date—and boy, does Conte need him.

Tottenham are noticeably less solid in defense without him, so his return will be appreciated.

Fabrizio Romano claims an Arsenal target has delivered a “clear message” tonight following the initial Gunners proposal in unrelated news.
