Ruslan Malinovskyi of Atalanta has recently been closely associated with Tottenham Hotspur.
Sport Mediaset stated a few weeks ago that Spurs were the front-runners for the Ukraine international.
Malinovsky is allegedly getting closer to picking Tottenham over Marseille, according to Calciomercato.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on the state of play between Spurs and the 29-year-old.
The transfer insider told Last Word on Spurs that Malinovskyi “would love to join Tottenham”.
Spurs apparently saw him as a priority in the summer, and Romano speculated that this may yet be the case.
As things stand, much depends on Atalanta, namely how much they want for him.
“Let’s see what happens with Malinovskyi,” began Romano.
“Malinovskyi I can’t say he was close but he was the priority of Tottenham in the summer.
“They were hoping for a loan deal with a buy clause.
“I am told that he is a player who would love to join Tottenham.
“I am told that the player dreams of the Premier League in general and Tottenham would be a big dream for him.
“But at the moment it depends on Atalanta.
“At the moment Atalanta wants between 15 and 17 million euros for Malinovskyi rather than a loan.
“But I think this will be the priority for Tottenham over a versatile attacker.”

Malinovsky would undoubtedly be a useful option for Antonio Conte at Tottenham.
The 29-year-old has shown he can play off either wing and as an attacking midfielder.
Fans on Twitter have compared Malinovskyi to Kevin De Bruyne, Miralem Pjanic, and Bruno Fernandes.
In addition, the “extraordinary” set-piece specialist wouldn’t break the bank for the Spurs.
While Malinovskyi may not necessarily be a marquee signing, he does tick quite a few boxes for Tottenham.
In addition, the January transfer window is a bit tricky as many clubs don’t want to sell their best players mid-season.
Malinovsky’s apparent availability means Tottenham shouldn’t find it too difficult in sealing a move.
