Manchester City’s stance on Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix has been revealed.

Amid widespread interest from across Europe, the stance from Manchester City on Atletico Madrid and Portugal forward Joao Felix has emerged.

The current reigning Premier League champions have long been linked with holding some level of interest in the exciting young forward, even prior to his big-money move to Madrid back in the summer of 2019.

Some within the Etihad Stadium viewed the former Benfica attacker as a potential long-term solution to the departed Sergio Aguero, although Erling Haaland’s staggering breakthrough in European football very quickly changed those views.

Even last summer, reports surfaced linking Manchester City with a desire to sign Joao Felix from the Metropolitano Stadium, forcing sources within the Premier League giants to quickly deny such suggestions and label them as ‘untrue’.

This winter, Felix is at the centre of transfer speculation once again, as a number of Premier League sides continue to be linked with a loan move for a player who has somewhat struggled to excel under Diego Simeone in Spain.

According to the information of The Athletic, all of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea have all been approached over a possible deal, and are considering whether a move makes ‘sporting and financial sense’.

It is detailed in a recent report that Atletico Madrid are seeking a €21 million package, consisting of a €15 million loan fee plus a further €6 million gross salary.

However, on the subject of Manchester City, The Athletic report that the Premier League champions are not thought be to interested in the Portuguese forward, despite holding interest in previous seasons.

Pep Guardiola has a plethora of attacking options at his disposal, as well as a number of midfield players who can be utilised in the forward areas should the likes of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez be subject to injury or attract transfer interest – which is highly unlikely so early on in their Etihad Stadium careers.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, it is more likely that Manchester City would opt for players who can operate in the wide attacking roles, as opposed to a player of Joao Felix’s profile.
