Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy received bad news regarding his other club prior to the match against Fulham.

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy was dealt a bombshell ahead of the defeat against Fulham on Tuesday evening.

Vardy is the co-owner of Rochester New York FC, which play in the third tier of football in the United States. He got on board as joint-owner of the football club in June 2021, alongside Wendy and David Dworkin.

The trio re-launched the club after a four-year hiatus. One of his first decisions was to appoint manager Bruno Baltazar to lead them in the opening season of their new era, which saw them finish in the playoffs.

Rochester New York confirmed on Tuesday that Baltazar and assistant Gui Ramos have departed for Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv.

The club stated in a statement: “RNYFC has reached an agreement with Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv to release Bruno Baltazar and Gui Ramos from their contracts for an unknown price.

“Baltazar and Ramos were named to captain the club in its inaugural season in the MLS NEXT Pro League. After a difficult start, the pair led the team to the playoffs, where they were defeated in the first round by eventual champions Columbus Crew 2.

“We wish Bruno and Gui all the best at their new club, and thank them for their contributions to our club.”

The club’s sporting director Lee Tucker, who previously managed Vardy’s V9 Academy, said: “It’s disappointing to lose Bruno and Gui after just one year, but we appreciate the opportunity they have been presented with. They did a good job in helping the team reach the playoffs, alongside the rest of the staff.”
