Manchester City might offer a 27-year-old in a swap deal to recruit a Premier League midfielder.

Declan Rice might be given to Manchester City, according to Caught Offside, since West Ham United is willing to resume their interest in Kalvin Phillips.

Phillips’ time at the defending champions hasn’t been easy since his multi-million-pound arrival this summer. He has just played one minute in the Premier League after Pep Guardiola openly said the midfielder was overweight upon his return to the club following the World Cup.

Phillips’ future is currently unknown, and the Hammers might come to his aid as the London giants consider making an offer for the player. Rice is set to leave next summer, while Tomas Soucek has battled for consistency, opening the door for another combative presence in the middle.

City spent £42 million for the 27-year-old, but he has dropped well down the pecking order. Ex-WHUEmployee maintained the club might offer another player in addition to Rice to bring Phillips to the London Stadium.

“They’ve brought up Kalvin Phillips again in the press.

“Kalvin Phillips is someone who West Ham, particularly David Moyes, completely trusts. I know for a fact that we discussed signing him in the summer and in January before that, and that we really, really wanted [him].

“I get the idea that patience is running thin with him and I’ve always stated that it wouldn’t surprise me if Man City were to offer Phillips in return for Rice at the conclusion of the season.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they threw in another player, but I can’t name them right now. Another marginal player might be included in the trade to entice West Ham.”

Arsenal is also said to be interested in Rice, although a January trade appears improbable. The Gunners will have to assess the situation, but West Ham might step up their efforts in the coming days.
