Copenhagen defender Victor Kristiansen admits he dreams of playing in the Premier League as Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City holds talks to bring in the Danish talent, speaking to BOLD.

With three successive defeats following the World Cup break – including a Boxing Day thumping by Newcastle United and a midweek defeat to Fulham on home soil – the flat-footed Foxes once again find themselves glancing nervously at the relegation zone. That pre-Christmas purple patch was fleeting indeed.

Now, there are just two points separating Leicester in 13th and Everton in 18th.

Kristiansen, 20, is hardly the type of game-changing acquisition who would immediately change Leicester’s fortunes, but the Denmark U21 international left-back would bring some depth to one of Rodgers’ squad’s weakest positions.

According to the Daily Mail, Leicester is in talks regarding a deal to make Kristiansen their first January signing.

LEICESTER CITY WANTS FC COPENHAGEN DEFENDER VIKTOR KRISTIANSEN

“(Leicester’s interest is) great to hear. It’s the world’s biggest league,” Kristiansen smiles. “My career has gone extremely fast. But yes, I feel ready for it.

“I’ve played in the Champions League, won the championship, and been a key figure for FC Copenhagen. So I feel I’m ready for whatever comes next.

“I actually think I have the package (to thrive in the Premier League). I’m reasonably hopeful if it’s something that comes to the table, but we’ll have to see. The Premier League is a boy’s dream. I think it is for most people when they start playing football.”

Labeled an ‘incredible’ talent and viewed by some as one of the most promising young defenders in Scandanavia, The Mail believes that Leicester is hoping to strike a bargain £6 million deal.

According to sporting director Peter Christiansen, however, Copenhagen has no interest in letting Kristiansen go for such a fee.

“He has developed fantastically and should probably have been at the World Cup. We are happy to have him at FC Copenhagen and have a long-term contract with him,” Christiansen says.

“He is not going to leave FC Copenhagen for (£6 million).”

Kristiansen, should he arrive, will help offset the absences of James Justin and Ryan Bertrand, while offering competition for the promising but raw Luke Thomas.
