After what Romero said on Instagram last night, the ‘amazing’ star Tottenham wants to sign is left speechless.

Cristian Romero has returned to Tottenham Hotspur, but the Argentine, like Emi Martinez, hasn’t yet stopped celebrating his country’s World Cup triumph.

Both Romero and Martinez were outstanding for the Albiceleste in Qatar. Although Lionel Messi is the biggest reason why Argentina won the World Cup, the Tottenham defender and the Aston Villa man deserve immense praise as well.

Email Martinez reacts to Tottenham star Cristian Romero’s Instagram post

Every Argentinian player got a hero’s welcome when they returned to their respective clubs following their triumph in Qatar.

Romero seems to have even got his own photoshoot at Tottenham, with his World Cup winners’ medal the focus of all the pictures. But, the defender was seen in all-Spurs gear – not in the famous blue and white of Argentina.

The 24-year-old posted three such pictures on his Instagram yesterday.

Fellow World Cup winner Martinez, who has been linked with a move to Spurs next summer, responded with emojis of three stars – suggesting the number of times Argentina has won the biggest prize in world football.

Bryan Gil and Dejan Kulusevski also responded to Romero’s post last night.

Spurs want to sign Arsenal old-boy Martinez

Hugo Lloris has been Tottenham’s undisputed number one in goal for over a decade now, but the Frenchman is nearing the end of his career, and Spurs have to make the difficult decision of replacing him.

Spurs have been linked with a number of goalkeepers over the last few months. TeamTalk claimed that Jordan Pickford, Robert Sanchez, and Illan Meslier are three options for Antonio Conte, while Dean Jones revealed that Tottenham is also looking at Martinez, who spent over a decade on the red side of North London.

The journalist said last month: “I’m pretty sure they’re also looking at Emi Martinez and whether he might consider a move at the end of the season.”

Martinez, branded as ‘amazing’ by Jack Wilshere, signed a new contract at Aston Villa just a year ago, and that does not expire until the summer of 2027. If Spurs really want him, they’ll have to spend a lot of money.
