Wesley Sneijder, Wout Weghorst’s countryman, says he can’t believe Man United is interested in him.

Wesley Sneijder, a Holland icon, has questioned Manchester United’s interest in fellow countryman, Wout Weghorst, stating the probable deal is a stunt.

United is in talks with Burnley about signing Weghorst till the end of the season, and the striker has stated his desire to join United.

Despite his great performances for his country in the World Cup, former Ajax star Sneijder remains skeptical of the forward’s suitability for United.

‘I think they’ve seen the trick with the free kick [in the World Cup quarter-final against Argentina], so they don’t fall for that in England anymore,’ Sneijder told VP.

According to VP, Sneijder stated, ‘I assume they’ve seen the trick with the free kick [in the World Cup quarter-final against Argentina], so they don’t fall for that in the final.’ The Dutch international is currently on loan at Besiktas, and the loan agreement would have to be terminated first, with the Turkish club seeking compensation.

Weghorst has nine goals in 18 games for Istanbul this season, and the club has the option to buy him for £8.5 million in the summer window. England is no longer a country.

‘After the encounter of our Football A Team versus Kasimpasa in the Super League, there was a need to make a statement due to speculative rumors in the media about our football player Wout Weghorst,’ said the Istanbul-based club.

‘The claim that there is an escape clause in our football player’s contract, saying that his contract can be terminated with a €2.5 million compensation if a Premier League bid is made, is false.

‘However, the report that the player in question will quit the team on Tuesday is false. Besiktas Gymnastics Club is solely responsible for Wout Weghorst’s initiative.’

United, who are thought to be limited to loan moves in this window, have stated that they anticipate Harry Maguire to stay beyond the January transfer window and regard him as a crucial element of their team.

The England defender has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, but the Red Devils have made it clear that he will not be leaving.

The 29-year-old has fallen out of favor at United in recent months, with Erik ten Hag limiting his playing time.
