Everton will consider offers as Aston Villa and Leicester both want to sign the star, according to reports.

The Toffees held firm on Gordon amid interest from Chelsea and Tottenham in the summer, with the club rejecting a £45million bid from the Blues.

The 21-year-old had been expected to sign a new deal at Goodison Park after staying on Merseyside last summer, but talks have seemingly stalled.

And with Frank Lampard desperately in need of funds to invest in their paper-thin squad this January, the club may be willing to listen to offers for their star player.

The report said: “Everton are considering approaches for Anthony Gordon after a number of Premier League rivals made inquiries about signing him this month, 90min understands.

“But 90min understands Newcastle is not the only club who like the look of Gordon, with Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest among those who are interested in a possible January deal.

Is it finally time?

With Everton in need of reinforcements in a number of areas, releasing Gordon this month would allow the club to reinvest.

The Toffees have already agreed on a deal with Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma, who is set to undergo a medical on Saturday morning [Fabrizio Romano, 21 January], and this could be further evidence Gordon will leave the club this month.

Gordon appears to have been a long-term admirer of Newcastle, and Villa is in need of attacking recruits following the departure of Danny Ings, so a move to either of these clubs appears most likely.

If it comes down to Gordon having to leave in order to bring in up to three new players, most Everton fans would probably agree that a move away would be the best option.

If the club is relegated this season, Gordon will be released in the summer anyway, so releasing him now is just hastening an inevitable action.
