The club is ‘one step closer’ to signing a Leicester player, and the transfer could be completed in the ‘next few hours.’

According to reports from Spain, Ayoze Pérez said goodbye to his Leicester City teammates two days ago ahead of his winter market move to Real Betis.

Brendan Rodgers has not relied heavily on the winger this season, and his contract expires in June. This had persuaded Betis to sign him on loan in January.

On Wednesday, Marca explained how Villarreal managed to outbid Betis for the Leicester player.

The Yellow Submarine are looking to bolster their attack after losing Nicolas Jackson and Arnaut Danjuma to other clubs.

This is where Pérez comes in, and according to AS, the La Liga club ‘negotiated all day yesterday’ to sign him in January. They appear to have made progress toward completing the operation.

Villarreal is reported ‘one step away’ from signing the 29-year-old on loan until the end of the season. In fact, it could be closed in the ‘next few hours’.

The former Newcastle United man is seen as an ideal candidate because he could quickly adapt to the club and be a valuable addition to the squad.

Pérez had agreed to join Manuel Pellegrini’s team, but he changed his mind at the last minute. Betis already believes they have lost the battle to Villarreal, who will ‘finalize the signing’ of the Leicester attacker soon.
