Leicester City are interested in signing Brazilian winger Mateus Tete on a short-term contract.

Leicester City is looking to sign winger Mateus Tete on a short-term deal after he flew in for a medical on Saturday.

The Foxes have identified the Brazilian winger as a possible solution to their attacking woes as they seek to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The struggling Foxes will add to their squad this month after signing Danish left-back Victor Kristiansen from FC Copenhagen for £17 million, but they are not the only club interested in Tête.

The Brazilian winger has drawn attention after scoring six goals and assisting three times in 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season.

The 22-year-old is on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk after his contract with the Ukrainian club was suspended due to the Russian invasion.

Lyon has the option to sign Tete, but it is unclear whether the French club, which is having a difficult season, will exercise it.

Everton and Nottingham Forest are both looking for a wide player, and Tête is on their radar.

Leicester is also interested in signing a central defender, with Stoke’s Harry Souttar being a top target.

‘We need improvement in the squad to bring in players who are technically better,’ said manager Brendan Rodgers.
