Fabian Schar now responds in nine words to Anthony Gordon’s arrival at Newcastle.

Anthony Gordon is officially a Newcastle United player and has received a welcome message from former rival Fabian Schar.

The Magpies announced the 21-year-old’s arrival on Sunday after he had undergone his medical and media duties the day earlier.

Gordon has signed a long-term deal with Eddie Howe’s side, with Newcastle paying Everton £45million for the winger. That includes £ 40 million upfront, then £ 5 million worth of add-ons. The deal makes Gordon Newcastle’s second most expensive player ever.

Howe’s side is next in action on Tuesday night, but Gordon will not be allowed to play. He is cup-tied for the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Southampton. Therefore, Toon fans will have to wait until Saturday’s Premier League encounter with West Ham to see Gordon make his debut.

In the meantime, Gordon, who is yet to receive a squad number, will be spending the week getting to know his new teammates who he has brawled with in recent years.
