Tete, Leicester City’s newest star, issues an ominous warning to the Premier League following his’magical’ debut.

The Brazilian winger reacts to his first appearance in blue, scoring the third of City’s four goals to help them earn their first Premier League victory since the World Cup.

Leicester City’s newest star Tete sent an ominous warning to the rest of the Premier League after his barnstorming debut, saying “this is just the beginning”.

The winger was in scintillating form in his first appearance since joining City from Lyon, scoring the third of City’s four goals and thrilling the away fans with his superb close control and direct dribbling.

The travelling fans, who swarmed the away end at Villa Park with Brazil flags to mark the first-ever appearance by a player from the country, made him feel at home. The 22-year-old was overjoyed and hungry for more after scoring and winning on his Premier League debut.

“What a magical debut,” Tete said on Twitter. “I must thank God and the Leicester staff and team-mates for the opportunity to make another dream come true in my life. This is only the beginning, but I already feel like a member of the Foxes.”

Tete is only signed until the end of the season for the time being. Because of the terms of his contract, City could only sign him until June 30.

Foreign players registered with Ukrainian clubs had their contracts suspended following the outbreak of war in Ukraine. A review will be conducted before the summer to see if this is still the case.

If that is the case, Tete will become a free agent on July 1 and City, like any other club, will be able to negotiate with him. If Fifa rules that contracts at Ukrainian clubs are no longer suspended, he will rejoin Shakhtar Donetsk. In that case, City would have to negotiate a transfer fee with Shakhtar, where his contract is set to expire at the end of the calendar year.
