Tottenham may have a chance to sign a long-term target during the ‘crisis season,’ with a’mega upheaval’ expected.

Due to interest from Tottenham, Bayer Leverkusen may be preparing to sell defender Piero Hincapié this summer.

That’s according to BILD, who covers the German club today and ‘consequences’ in the summer following what has been a ‘crisis season’.

They claim that Leverkusen is preparing for “mega upheaval” in the coming months, despite the fact that they are currently 10th in the league and on track to miss all of their season goals.

This could result in significant changes to the squad, as sports director Simon Rolfes recently admitted.

“This summer will be different than the last. Because of the contract terms, there will be a lot more movement,” he told Kicker.

Hincapié is not one of those whose contract is about to expire or is about to enter its final year, as his current contract runs until 2026.

However, there is a strong possibility that he will move, with it explained that he is one of four players ‘hotly courted’ in England and could bring in ‘well over €100m’ in transfer fees if they all leave.

Tottenham is the main club interested in the 21-year-old, and this has certainly been the case in recent months, with several reports linking Spurs with a move.

They were first linked in July last year, with a report following that in October stating they were following him with ‘some interest’.

Then, at the end of December, it was claimed that Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici wanted to ‘burn the competition’ and get him with a January bid.

That never happened but it seems that Leverkusen is now bracing itself to lose the player, with Rolfes admitting that “we will use the summer to realign the squad and make it more ambitious. Even if a Euro Qualification occurs!”

It appears that Hincapié is one of several players who could move, but whether to Tottenham remains to be seen.
