Despite his ‘bad form’ for Tottenham Hotspur this season, Kyle Walker described Son Heung-min as a ‘fantastic’ player on BBC One’s Match of the Day (01/03/23 at 7:50 pm).

The Manchester City right-back was discussing the link-up play between Son and Harry Kane, which is now a Premier League record.

You can bet your bottom dollar that whenever Kane or Son score, they are assisting one another.

It’s probably been less of an occurrence this season because of Son’s poor form. The £22 million star (Guardian) has only managed nine goals in all competitions this season, after his Golden Boot-winning 23 in the Premier League last term.

During the early days of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign, Walker would have seen all of this talent first-hand, before having to face it in the colors of Manchester City.

And the 32-year-old, who was in the studio for Tottenham’s FA Cup defeat to Walker’s boyhood club Sheffield United on Wednesday night, shared what Son is also like off the field of play.

“I think it’s their (Kane and Son’s) link-up play,” said Walker. “As you can see through many years how many times they look for each other.

“Their movements for each other and selfishness. And they are good finishers. Harry’s done it year in and year out.

“Okay, Sonny’s gone in for a little bit of bad form. But he’s a fantastic player. What a great guy he is to have around the place. He’s probably one of the nicest men I have met in football.”

TOTTENHAM BOOTED OUT OF FA CUP

It’s happened again. The same players. The same competition. The same feeling, it’s just a different year.

What’s worse about the Spurs getting knocked out by the Blades is that they made eight changes to their starting XI.

Paul Heckingbottom’s men are pushing for promotion in the Championship, so some of the big guns from goalscorer Iliman Ndiaye, Sander Berge, and Oli Norwood were on the bench.

Yet, they managed to boot out Tottenham, who decided to rest Harry Kane and Cristian Romero.
