‘Affected him’: Ian Wright says £22m Tottenham star struggling but teammate’s ‘kicked on’

Ian Wright has stated that Son Heung-min has been ‘affected’ by this current season in Tottenham Hotspur colors, but his teammate Harry Kane has ‘kicked on’.

After winning the Golden Boot last time out, Wright touched upon how Son’s form has dipped after picking up that all-important individual prize for his 23 goals during the 2021/22 campaign.

The 30-year-old was in the best form of his life 12 months ago, but he is now facing real struggles.

Of Son’s six Premier League goals, only two have come when he has started, including during the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest over the weekend.

Nothing has changed much around him. There hasn’t been any long-term injury to the player, change in position or Harry Kane missing from the XI.

In fact, Kane, as touched upon by Ian Wright, is performing much better than last season, but not in the creative department, as he told Premier League Productions (13/03/23 at 2:35 pm).

“This season has affected Son,” said Wright. “Last season, he won the Golden Boot.

“Harry Kane this season has kicked on again. Last season, he was more of a creator. I think he had nine assists and 17 goals. This season, he already has 20 goals, but I am sure that will go up more.”

99 PREMIER LEAGUE GOALS…

South Korea International needs one more goal to create history and score Premier League goal number 100 of his career.

That £22 million signing was brought in by Mauricio Pochettino in 2015 (FourFourTwo), and initially struggled, but has now turned into a world superstar.

Whilst a lot of limelight is on Kane, once Son also parts ways with Spurs, he will go down as a Spurs legend and one of the Premier League’s best.
