Nottingham Forest scouting mission revealed ahead of summer transfer window

The latest Nottingham Forest transfer news is Reds scouts are said to be in attendance at the Champions League clash on Tuesday night

Nottingham Forest was one of two English clubs reportedly on a scouting mission on Tuesday evening, with representatives from the club said to be in attendance at the Champions League clash between Porto and Inter Milan.

The two teams played out a 0-0 draw in the second leg of their round of 16 ties, Inter going through as 1-0 aggregate winners. The game also saw Porto winger Pepe shown a red card in the closing stages.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola (via SportWitness ), officials from both Forest and Championship side Watford were in attendance in order to cast their eyes over potential summer targets. The report didn’t mention any specific players that they may have been watching.

While there have been no recent links with any Porto players, Forest was credited with an interest in Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini back in January. The 28-year-old was an unused substitute for the clash against Porto.

Gagliardini is out of contract in the summer, meaning he is free to speak to overseas clubs and agree on a pre-contract ahead of a move at the end of the season. He has struggled for regular minutes this season and could look to move in order to increase his game time.

Even if the Forest representatives were in attendance to watch Gagliardini, some of the other players involved may have caught their eye. Goalkeeper Andre Onana was praised for his performance in keeping Porto from leveling the scores.

Forest could be on the lookout for a new shot-stopper for the new season with both Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas due to return to parent clubs Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

Onana has only been with Inter this season and has a number of years remaining on his contract, meaning the Italian club could demand a big fee for the 26-year-old if they wanted to sell.
