The latest Leicester City news as the midfielder has been ruled out until after the international break with ankle ligament damage suffered in the loss against Arsenal at the end of last month

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has said that he will be “back soon” and hoping to score more memorable goals for the club.

Tielemans has missed the past three games in all competitions after injuring his ankle in the closing stages of the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal late last month. The midfielder was spotted using crutches and with his foot, in a protective boot as he left the stadium.

It was later confirmed that he had suffered ligament damage on both sides of his ankle, ruling him out until next month. “Youri will be out for six weeks,” Rodgers said at the start of the month .

“Six weeks will feel like six months when you lose a player of that quality. Sadly he’s done the ligaments in his ankle. He won’t be back before the international break.”

Ahead of the weekend’s game against Brentford, City has shared a memorable moment from Tielemans in the same fixture last season. The club posted a video of the midfielder’s half-volley from outside of the box which opened the scoring in a 2-1 win.

Tielemans replied to the post with a rocket and muscle emoji. He then shared the goal on his Instagram stories, along with a message reading: “Back soon with this @lcfc,” with praying and muscle emojis.

Tielemans’ return, whenever that is, will come as a huge boost to City, who are struggling to make the most of their chances in recent weeks. The 25-year-old is one of City’s key creators when on the pitch, along with James Maddison.

In his 187 appearances for the club, Tielemans has scored 28 goals and provided a further 25 assists. A few of those goals have been memorable ones, including the one against Brentford, and the FA Cup-winning goal vs Chelsea.

There is still uncertainty over where the player’s future lies beyond this summer. Tielemans is out of contract with City and is yet to put pen-to-paper on a new deal, despite there being talks for well over a year.

It means that he will be available on a free transfer when the summer transfer window opens, with the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle United said to be interested in signing him.
